|Description||The prison barge's shuttle was not found with the shuttle and one prisoner was unaccounted for. The USS Tornado's job, while failed in getting the barge, is not done as they receive orders from the Klingon Empire's High Council asking them to locate the prisoner with a heavy price placed upon the prisoner's head. Alive or Dead, the Empire wants the escaped fugitive, but an emphasis was definitely placed on the latter. When the High Council amend the orders with updated intelligence reports that the escapee is on the planet Qlj Hegh on the very outskirts of the Klingon Empire, in a system that they no longer acknowledge as part of the Empire, the Tornado appears to be in for a relatively easy mission.|
|Mission Group||The Klingon Civil War|
|Start Date||Thu Jan 1st, 1970 @ 1:00am|
However, the Klingons offer no ships of their own to assist and send the Tornado to the Qlj system on their own which raises some suspicions. Little by little the crew of the Tornado learn more about the prisoner and about the planet Qlj Hegh which is translated to meaning black death. The prisoner in question is an elderly Klingon woman who used to live on the planet years ago when the planet was still considered part of the Empire. The planet itself is hospitable and easily inhabitable yet the only life sign detected on the planet by the Tornado is the old woman. Who is she? Why was she serving time in a Kingon prison and being transferred to the harshest prison in
An away team is sent down to the planet which due to interference in the atmosphere, can only be safely reached by shuttle. After the team from the Tornado lands, they catch up with the elderly Klingon woman who does not resist but rather asks for Federation Asylum from the Empire. She begins to tell her tale of once being a Scientist and a physician on the planet when it was overtaken by a disease that claimed the lives of dozens of children. Many on the planet began to leave and she remained behind in hopes of finding a cure. However, she was unsuccessful at the time.
She is then taken into custody and brought aboard the USS Tornado where she pleads her case and tells her whole story to the Captain. The woman holds firmly to her claims of being nothing but an innocent woman, a scientist, and physician that was faced with an incurable disease. As to why she was imprisoned? She explains that the High Council at the time needed someone to take the blame and the dishonor and chose her. They labeled her a witch and that she worshiped the Fek' lhr. It is up to Commander Aki Shagdac
to either turn the woman over to the Klingons as ordered or take her into Federation space and help her gain the asylum she had desperately sought.
